Prepping things for your hospital stay can be stressful. Do you have everything you need for a 2+ day’s stay? I asked a lot of mammas and did some research to find what most think is necessary for a hospital stay and wanted to share with you what the contents in my hospital bag are. Here you go:

  • insurance card, birth plan if you have one, and make sure you have your license
  • cell phone charger
  • hair supplies (hair ties, headband, bobby pins, clips, etc)
  • blow dryer & curling iron or flat iron
  • non-perishable snacks
  • personal items: hairbrush, shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, makeup, face wash, body wash, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrush, floss *travel size items are wonderful for this
  • at least 3 comfy outfits ( I think I have 4-5 but I overpack for legit everything)
  • robe
  • comfy socks
  • nursing bra
  • nursing tanks
  • nipple cream
  • chapstick
  • maternity pads (which the hospital will provide you with some USUALLY but just to be safe bring your own)
  • slippers with grips (just get something cheap so you’re not sliding around the hospital and you can always throw away after use)
  • flip flops for shower
  • extra maternity undies, although I hear their mesh underpants are going to be my only sexy panties for a little while ;)
  • comfortable clothes to go home in and think about shoes, you can probably just wear the shoes that you came in with
  • earbuds if you want to listen to music on your phone
  • towel (the hospital may provide small ones, so it’s just preference)
  • boppy or breastfeeding pillow *make sure that the pillowcase can be removed and washed if you don’t want to use it after it’s been at the hospital.
  • Breastfeeding pads (for leakage)
Hopefully the hospital stay isn’t for longer then 3 days but to be safe, I’d say prep for that amount of time. Once your bag is packed,  if you’re anything like me you’ll feel a sense of relief to have just another thing crossed off your list and you can then rest knowing that it’s done!
XO,
E
